I strive to take the best photos I can without modifying them, but I didn't know about gimp, and this could help with minor edits. Thanks!

Minor, Major. Generally things such as HDR or Tilt Shift is something you might need light retouching for.

Either that, or look into macro photography too.

I suggest googly Phototuts (Its from the Envato Network) and they have incredible tutorials.
